A Fire-Themed Halloween Porch with a Dragon Yard Inflatable

Toni Roberts of Design Dazzle created the perfect Halloween gathering spot for our Halloween Style Challenge here on The Home Depot Blog. We sent her a mystery box of Home Depot Halloween decorations and let her style it.

Take a look at how easy it is to create this cozy yet spooky look with a giant dragon Halloween yard inflatable!

Fire-Themed Halloween Porch with a Yard Inflatable

The Home Depot asked me to participate in the Halloween Style Challenge and I’m excited to show you what I came up with! Anytime I get a chance to dress up my home for the spirit of the Halloween season it’s a good thing.

Of course I said yes to work with one of my favorite stores. In fact, I shop at The Home Depot more than most stores. With all the projects I have going on, I’m there all the time! I started planning how to go about decorating a Halloween-themed space for my front porch. Last year I invited my friends for a Halloween in Paris party. I completely decorated my family room, entry and kitchen area.

This year I get to work on my porch! It worked out perfectly because The Home Depot sent me a dragon yard inflatable, which I wondered how I was going to decorate with that. But, you’ll see how it turned out – it’s so fun!

I love my front porch. The white brick, black shutters, and black door are the perfect backdrop to decorate for Halloween. It also works for all the holidays I want to decorate with. But utilizing the front porch for this challenge worked out perfectly. Last year I decorated my back patio for the Home Depot Style Challenge and used this firepit and chairs. Check it out – you will also see what the color of my home used to be.

Pumpkin Decorations

I went shopping at The Home Depot and found some great Halloween products.

When I saw the stackable pumpkins at The Home Depot I knew they would be perfect to place on top of the black planter urns I’ve had forever. A black crow just adds the finishing touch!

I’ve collected fake pumpkins throughout the years and threw in a few to create some vignettes. One easy trick was to use outdoor window screen to create a “wrap” around the pumpkin. I have a few faux pumpkins that are old, faded and have seen better days. I gave them new life by wrapping window screen around them and then tied with ribbon. Inexpensive, easy to cut (with a pair of scissors) and quick to do.

Skeletons & Lanterns

Mr. Skeleton holds a birdcage with a talking Raven (with sound effects) is a great accent for my bench. I was so surprised to see such cute pillows in the Halloween section! They absolutely are what I needed to add the right touch to my cute bench.

Loving the look of my home all lit up at night. These battery-operated spider lanterns are pretty cool. The candle lights it up with a 6-hours-on/18-hours-off timer, so you can easily add beautiful ambient lighting in hard-to-reach areas. Or, simply turn it on or off as needed with the switch on the bottom.

This BOO sign literally took 20 minutes to make! Don’t you love this kind of craft? I purchased the pine wood board 12 in. x 6 ft. from The Home Depot. Of course, they cut it for me (I just needed 1 ft. cut off the end). I sprayed painted it orange and let it dry (that was the longest part) then I nailed in the letters that I already purchased a while back. Quick and easy!

Inflatable Dragon

So how did I incorporate the fire-eating dragon yard inflatable?

One of the first things our trick-or-treaters will see when walking up to our front porch will be the fire eating dragon and our fire pit lit with a cozy, warm fire going. This dragon yard inflatable is impressively huge (9-ft. tall) with moving wings and a red lit fire belly! As you can see, it certainly is a fire eating and fire breathing dragon!

We’ll just hang out on our front patio and hand out candy and chat by the fire while roasting marshmallows. It’s a nice thing to visit with neighbors rather than just handing out candy. I’m sure even most of the kids will love to roast a marshmallow or two.

In fact, I even roasted myself a couple of marshmallows in honor of getting ready for Halloween night.
