The Ultimate Samsung Laundry Experience

Follow along as Rashida Banks transforms her dungeon of a basement into an ultimate Samsung laundry experience with the help of The Home Depot.

The Ultimate Samsung Laundry Experience

There used to be a dungeon in my basement called the laundry room. It was a place that I literally ran in and out of for the past 5 years. Not only did it lack appeal, but it also lacked walls, ceilings, flooring and function. It was a big, unfinished space with concrete floors, cinderblock walls and exposed pipes.

On top of cringing at just the thought of going into the laundry space, I also cringed at the idea of doing laundry period. I was the person that waited until the pile of clothes became mountains. To be honest, I wanted to get out of that cycle and become someone that liked doing this necessary task.

The Makeover

So I turned to something that greatly motivates me, which is making over a room. I don’t know what it is, but something about a well-decorated space gets me excited. Teaming up with The Home Depot made it possible to makeover my laundry room and turn it into a warm, inviting space.

To kick off this makeover, I needed to better define the space. It was a laundry room/storage room/utility room that needed to become separate spaces. Once the spaces were defined, then the fun began. I went to homedepot.com and started looking for a washer and dryer that worked with my lifestyle. I needed something hefty enough to handle my king size duvet, powerful enough to handle the dog beds and my husband’s gym clothes (lol), but also gentle enough to handle my delicate clothing.

When I came across the Samsung FlexWash and FlexDry, I was so amazed, excited and just overall impressed that something like this even existed! It answered all of my needs and then some.

Samsung FlexWash

My favorite thing about the washing machine is the mini top load washer. I don’t know if I’m more excited about the fact that it’s miniature (I’m obsessed with miniature things), or that I have the option of washing just one item without starting a large load of clothes. The mini top load is also great for all my delicate clothing. The front load of the Samsung FlexWash has a feature for pretty much every type of laundry scenario. There’s of course the normal cycle, but also it has one for whites, heavy duty, bedding, towels and active wear, just to name a few.

There are even options for how many times you want a load rinsed, pre-soak, steam and spin speed. It has every bell and whistle that can possibly come with a washing machine. Plus you can run the mini top load and the front load at the same time!

Samsung FlexDry

The dryer also doesn’t disappoint. It comes with a mini top load as well for those items that need to lay flat to dry or things that may get ruined if tossed around in a big dryer. The front load of the dryer is so large that I can fit my king size duvet. It also evenly dries without having to pull it out mid cycle and re-position it. It too, comes with several drying features such as wrinkle away, steam sanitize, bedding, towels, anti-static…the list goes on and on!

I was not only sold on the features of the Samsung FlexWash and FlexDry, but I was also impressed with the sleek black stainless steel look of the machines.

Once I picked out the laundry appliances that fit my lifestyle, I moved on to making the space functional and appealing to work in. I visited The Home Depot’s website and chose cabinets small enough to fit above the washer and dryer, but also big enough to hold and hide all the laundry items that I don’t want out in the open. To make the cabinets fit in with the décor, I painted them in “Rich Navy” by PPG Paints, and spray-painted the hardware gold with Rustoleum Metallic Spray Paint.

I chose a beautiful porcelain tile called “Kolasus Matte”, along with peel and stick SmartTiles (Metro Blanco to be exact) for the wall behind the appliances. I also chose a peel and stick cloud WallPop wallpaper.

Next, I built two simple things. I made an appliance cover to hide all the duct work and hoses. The cover also acts as a place to store items and add more stylish organization. Then I built a fold down folding table. I knew I needed a folding table, but I didn’t want it to take up a lot of space. The table can act as a workspace or a piece of artwork when folded up and not in use.

Overall, I love my laundry room. What was once a dungeon is now my new favorite space in the house! I have to thank The Home Depot for helping me achieve this beautiful new space. I no longer dread doing laundry, but instead love it!
