How to Host a Cozy Outdoor Fall Movie Night

Cool, crisp fall nights are finally here and now is the perfect time to host an outdoor fall movie night under the star-filled skies with friends. All will you need is a projector, and a screen (you can get creative here), and you are well on your way to hosting the perfect sweater weather celebration. What I love most about this casual fall festivity is that is very accommodating. You can invite family, friends, children, and neighbors or you can opt to make it an “adults only” night out. Nonetheless, there are a variety of options that will inspire you to make hosting a cozy outdoor fall movie night a new tradition.

When hosting a movie night, you must have tickets. Creating ticket themed invitations can be a very simple and fun DIY, or you can find a digital template online. Pinterest is my go-to source for printable goods.

Next, you will have to decide on your seating. For our couple’s movie night, the hubby and I will be lounging our new patio furniture from the Hampton Bay Laguna Point Collection. It is the perfect combination of beauty, comfort, durability, function, and style.

For our little guests, we purchased small bales of pine needles from The Home Depot. It was relatively inexpensive, and it added an extra layer of interest for them to enjoy. Don’t forget to tell them to bring a blanket!

If you don’t want to spend tons of money on a projector screen or if you are a ride or DIY-er; here are some simple yet budget-friendly solutions.

  • Drop cloth
  • Sheet
  • Foam board

What is a fall movie night without a concession stand? Pallets are great for upcycling, DIYing and crafting. We used an old pallet to create the concession stand. I knew that this would be the perfect way to add a little fall flair.

I elected to keep the décor very timeless and traditional. These classic fall mums and grapevine pumpkins were the perfect pairs for this outdoor fall vignette.

The bales of pine needles and a mixture of faux and real pumpkins were also used to enhance this area that could also double as a fabulous outdoor backdrop for an impromptu family photo shoot.

Hosting a cozy fall movie night can prove to be very entertaining and enjoyable. All you need is a little time and creativity. Fall is such a beautiful season to enjoy nature, family, and friends. Hosting an outdoor fall movie night weaves the three together beautifully. I hope that these tips have inspired you to create long lasting memories that will never leave you this fall.
