Spring in the south is all about outdoor entertaining. Whether it is a casual dinner, low country boil or oyster roast, spring means hosting family and friends outside as often as possible. There is nothing better than throwing a party on a backyard patio.<\/p>\n

I love using my patio to host a gathering and love adding a bit of my southern, low country tastes. If you are looking to add some pizzazz to your next patio soiree, here are a few tips to make the most of The Home Depot\u2019s Mix and Match<\/a> collection. These ideas are designed to give the right amount of classic southern patio decor\u00a0 and modern style to your next outdoor gathering.<\/p>\n

Set the<\/strong> Table<\/h3>\n

I love setting a table for any party no matter how casual or formal. Be sure to incorporate colors and textures. Mix<\/strong> Patterns in Pillows<\/strong><\/h3>\n

I love using beautiful outdoor pillows to add an element of style to a patio space. To add a unique look to your patio dining set, try mixing patterns and pillow styles. I had to have a little bit of southern hospitality so the Hampton Bay Cushion Guard Pineapple Square Outdoor Throw Pillow<\/a> was a perfect match for me. To add a modern touch to the seating, I chose the Hampton Bay Black\/Oatmeal Trellis Square Outdoor Throw Pillow<\/a> as it had a similar color scheme to the pineapple pattern. To keep the continuity of your outdoor fabrics, be sure to find a common ground, whether it be color, texture or size.<\/p>\n

Time for<\/strong> Drinks<\/h3>\n

A location for drinks is always a must for any party. Here we used the Old Dutch Aura Hammered Copper Bar Tools Set<\/a> and Old Dutch 5 gal. Decor Copper Lion’s Head Beverage Cooler<\/a>. This combination is durable enough to go on the floor but also pretty enough to display on your table. These copper pieces will always be in style and the perfect addition to any entertaining collection. If you are hosting a party during the middle of a hot summer day, be sure to use gel ice packs in addition to ice cubes to keep your drinks cold for your guests.<\/p>\n

Classic Southern<\/strong> Style with Modern Touches<\/strong><\/h3>\n

For this mix and match style, we used a mixture of classic wicker chairs with a modern table setting. For a pop of color, I also added Hampton Bay 7-1\/2 ft. Steel Patio Umbrella in Periwinkle<\/a> to the table to ensure proper shading on the patio as the southern sun heats up this Spring and Summer. If you are not much of a gardener these blue cacti are a perfect choice to add to any tablescape and will save you on ordering flowers for every dinner party.<\/p>\n

If you want to keep your party going past sunset, lighting is a must. I wanted to continue the classically modern southern style and chose Hampton Bay 8.18 in. For safety purposes, especially with children around, battery-powered candles are a much better option during windy summer nights.<\/p>\n
