W x 8 FT<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(8) 15 \u00be in X 19 in<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(2) 15 \u00be in X 17 \u00be in<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(15) 1 X 2 @ 17 3\/8 in<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(8) 2 X 2 @ 2 in<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Optional: Fit left over 1 X 2 scraps to top at 45-degree mitered cuts<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>STEP 1<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Using a circular saw or table saw, rip your 4 X 8 plywood sheet to 19 in W X 8 ft L. If you do not own a saw, an associate at The Home Depot will be able to rip it for you!<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>STEP 2<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Using a circular saw or a table saw, rip your 19 in X 8 ft pieces into (4) 19 in X 15 \u00be\u201d in pieces for the planter box sides.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-113499\" src=\"https:\/\/homeimprovementblogs.com\/hg-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/3cb2debabd238c1cb7c12038efa416a3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"470\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When measuring, be sure to check if everything is square!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-113500\" src=\"https:\/\/homeimprovementblogs.com\/hg-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/88d95344ec4025e2bc4bdde80d9037c0.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"550\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><b>STEP 3<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the left-over pieces of plywood, use a circular saw or table saw to cut the planter box bases at 15 \u00be in X 17 \u00be in.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>STEP 4<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use a miter saw to cut your slats for every side. Each planter is only covering three sides as the back of the planter will not be viable. Cut (15) 1 X 2 @ 17 3\/8 in to give you a grand total of (72) 17 3\/8 in pieces.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-113501\" src=\"https:\/\/homeimprovementblogs.com\/hg-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/0893d54d8f28d6e965cc0a8ce8dbb41d.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"408\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><b>STEP 5<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once all of your cuts have been made its time to assemble the Christmas tree planter boxes! Below shows the cuts for one planter box. Remember, we are only covering three sides with horizontal slats.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-113502\" src=\"https:\/\/homeimprovementblogs.com\/hg-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/b362b32766ee78186f00b209257fd802.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"1000\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><b>STEP 6<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use a drill and a Kreg Jig to make 4 pocket holes screws on 2\/4 planter box sides.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-113503\" src=\"https:\/\/homeimprovementblogs.com\/hg-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/0911e35586b2cd9ee4d04d555c5c7c5d.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Make two holes at the top and two at the bottom. Do not put pocket holes in all of the sides, you only need to in two boards per planter box.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-113504\" src=\"https:\/\/homeimprovementblogs.com\/hg-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/44c431a760fbe2f2e3d46fe63d0d4087.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><b>STEP 7<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use two clamps to keep the boards flush and in place. Take your drill and 1 \u00bc in pocket hole screws to attach the pocket hole board to the NON-pocket hole board.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-113505\" src=\"https:\/\/homeimprovementblogs.com\/hg-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/66cad17c45455df34f012e75c57db9c0.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"418\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repeat this process on the other side by flipping the \u201cU-shape\u201d onto the second pocket hole board and attach 4 pocket hole screws.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-113506\" src=\"https:\/\/homeimprovementblogs.com\/hg-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/b121636ef43e7428617d146c513959c5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><b>STEP 8<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use a brad nailer and clamps to attach the base to the bottom of the planter. Use at least 8 nails in the corners and middle, use more if desired for extra security.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-113507\" src=\"https:\/\/homeimprovementblogs.com\/hg-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/88c31193b98db462bec6b0310aa1de6d.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"447\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><b>STEP 9<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Attach your slats starting at the top of the box by using wood glue and two small clamps to hold in place. Use a brad nailer to secure a nail on each end.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-113508\" src=\"https:\/\/homeimprovementblogs.com\/hg-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/acf48dadf4f3b7069a7395af92ed6ac9.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"421\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><b>STEP 10<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use a paint stir stick as a spacer between each slat. Glue and brad nail all 12 slats and repeat these steps till all three sides are completed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-113509\" src=\"https:\/\/homeimprovementblogs.com\/hg-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/b3b00efcdb2ba620210ed151a5c33356.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"425\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><b>STEP 11<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Optional) Use the scraps from your 1 X 2\u2019s and cut 45-degree mitered corners for a finished look on the top of the planter. Secure with wood glue and brad nails.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-113510\" src=\"https:\/\/homeimprovementblogs.com\/hg-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/1012b553d1b17193f7cfcd9300d796ac.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"409\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><b>STEP 12<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cut (4) 2 X 2 @ 2 in and attach the legs to the bottom of the planter using wood glue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-113511\" src=\"https:\/\/homeimprovementblogs.com\/hg-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/72175bc18fc52f58cc27138884c31664.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"417\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><b>STEP 13<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use 120 and 220 Grit sand paper for a smooth finish on the tops and sides.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-113512\" src=\"https:\/\/homeimprovementblogs.com\/hg-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/27cb64d422935bffb5f2acd2ad9bd1e3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><b>COMPLETED PROJECT<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The planters were a perfect addition to modernize our front porch for Christmas. I finished the DIY Christmas Tree Planters off with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.homedepot.com\/b\/Holiday-Decorations-Christmas-Decorations\/N-5yc1vZcgxo?cm_mmc=socialmedia%7Capronblog%7CD59%7C000000%7CKourtniMunoz%7C113497\">holiday decor<\/a> from The Home Depot. Believe it or not, all the greenery is faux here! There were so many realistic trees, wreaths and garland with built-in lights and timers. All of the decor, including the gifts and red truck, have built-in battery operated lights and timers so there aren&#8217;t cords all over the porch!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\"
