One of the things we chose not to upgrade during the build process was the flooring, and it was something we\u2019d been wanting to change, but hadn\u2019t found the right product yet. We did a lot of research on vinyl flooring and were pleased to find <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.homedepot.com\/p\/LifeProof-Restored-Rosewood-12-ft-Wide-Residential-Light-Commercial-Vinyl-Sheet-U9790537C832L14\/303030309?cm_mmc=socialmedia%7Capronblog%7CD23F%7C000000%7CHollyLauritzen%7C114704\"  rel=\"noopener\">Lifeproof Sheet Vinyl<\/a><\/u> at The Home Depot. It was the right price point and the color selection was exactly what we were wanting. We chose the color Restored Rosewood and were so glad to see they made a natural looking wood choice that fit the style of our bedroom.<\/p>\n<p>Although we originally has carpet in our bedroom, we knew we would soon want to switch out the flooring to a) better fit our style and b) to safeguard against a puppy stains and natural wear and tear with little ones. We loved the fact this sheet vinyl flooring is stain, scuff and scratch-resistant and super easy to clean.\u00a0 That\u2019s our kind of flooring!<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Step 1: Remove Carpet<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-114713 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/homeimprovementblogs.com\/hg-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/ea18f5f4a8746d8f2e026270fd13ab59.jpg\" alt=\"Faux Farmhouse Flooring Makeover with Lifeproof Sheet Vinyl\" width=\"750\" height=\"1000\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The first thing we did was remove the carpet and got it all cleaned up! It\u2019s important to clean the concrete (or wooden sub-flooring) as well as you can before applying the adhesive. That means you\u2019ll need to remove all tack strips (if you removed carpet like we did) and scrape up any existing concrete splatters or other bumps in the ground.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-114712 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/homeimprovementblogs.com\/hg-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/fa92b41fec01ca11c03681e15990b3f3.jpg\" alt=\"Faux Farmhouse Flooring Makeover with Lifeproof Sheet Vinyl\" width=\"750\" height=\"1000\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Sweep it all up and you\u2019re ready to lay the vinyl.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Step 2: Measure and Cut Sheet Vinyl<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-114706 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/homeimprovementblogs.com\/hg-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/c4e6c557d2fe64eb0294aa478de7cc46.jpg\" alt=\"Faux Farmhouse Flooring Makeover with Lifeproof Sheet Vinyl\" width=\"750\" height=\"937\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When you purchase the flooring it comes with a helpful installation guide that tells you exactly what type of adhesive and tools you\u2019ll need. First, you\u2019ll cut the vinyl for the exact space you need. This can easily be done with a simple utility knife.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Step 3: Ensure Pattern Alignment<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-114714 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/homeimprovementblogs.com\/hg-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/c209a5224df3b171c30d96d520b45ed6.jpg\" alt=\"Faux Farmhouse Flooring Makeover with Lifeproof Sheet Vinyl\" width=\"750\" height=\"1000\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Unless your room is perfectly square or rectangular and less than 12 ft. Wide (since that\u2019s the width it comes), there will naturally be seams when laying this type of sheet vinyl. Be aware of your pattern and try your best to line it up with the existing pattern. Since this wood has a textured appearance, it is VERY forgiving in that regard.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Step 4: Apply Adhesive and Install Sheet Vinyl<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-114711 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/homeimprovementblogs.com\/hg-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/f1fbe0f070cff468f38c11f00fcb2035.jpg\" alt=\"Faux Farmhouse Flooring Makeover with Lifeproof Sheet Vinyl\" width=\"750\" height=\"1000\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then you\u2019ll apply <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.homedepot.com\/p\/Henry-650R-1-Gal-Releasable-Bond-Pressure-Sensitive-Adhesive-12849\/204815380?cm_mmc=socialmedia%7Capronblog%7CD23F%7C000000%7CHollyLauritzen%7C114704\"  rel=\"noopener\">the adhesive<\/a><\/u> in a thin layer using a u-shaped trowel, in two foot sections at a time. You\u2019ll spread the adhesive, then roll out the vinyl over top every two feel. Glue, Roll, Repeat.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Step 5: Remove Air Bubbles<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-114709 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/homeimprovementblogs.com\/hg-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/78ebca9e09d87e2aa201bdf36d00c22c.jpg\" alt=\"Faux Farmhouse Flooring Makeover with Lifeproof Sheet Vinyl\" width=\"750\" height=\"1000\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll want to keep a close eye on air bubbles as you go. These will occur and are to be expected. Once you find one, simply use this <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.homedepot.com\/p\/Roberts-Extendable-Floor-Roller-10-955\/100012074?cm_mmc=socialmedia%7Capronblog%7CD23F%7C000000%7CHollyLauritzen%7C114704\">rolling tool<\/a><\/u> to guide the air out towards the edges.<\/p>\n<h3>Finished Product<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-114710 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/homeimprovementblogs.com\/hg-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/b75e9b89217fbc6db0a50212ce35805a.jpg\" alt=\"Faux Farmhouse Flooring Makeover with Lifeproof Sheet Vinyl\" width=\"750\" height=\"1000\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you would have told us that THIS was sheet vinyl we would have never believed you! In fact, we were skeptical of the even the words \u2018sheet vinyl\u2019 but boy, were we wrong! And we\u2019re glad we were, because this is our favorite flooring in the whole house.
