Making the most of the small spaces around your house can be tricky, especially when it comes to outdoor patio furniture. Anika Gandhi of Anika’s DIY Life<\/a> was able to use some of The Home Depot\u2019s products to create the perfect entertaining corner on her patio.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Creating a Colorful and Cozy Patio Corner<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Last summer was our first summer in this house. I didn\u2019t do much to our patio because I wanted to experience the space and understand how we would use it.<\/p>\n

We spent a lot of time out back with friends and family enjoying the pool and just hanging out! So, I knew that this summer – I needed to make this space a nice cozy conversational area.<\/p>\n

\"Outdoor<\/p>\n

The Before<\/h3>\n

When we bought the home, the patio was in a pretty sad state.<\/p>\n

Last year, I gave it a quick refresh<\/a> with Behr concrete stain<\/a> and kept our old curbside rescue patio furniture<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Overall, the patio felt bland and lacking warmth. Also, those chairs – not very comfortable for long afternoons on the patio.<\/p>\n

This year, I have been waiting for spring to finally start working on our backyard and patio!<\/p>\n

My goal is to create a fun and cozy space where we can hang out and entertain as we enjoy the pool.<\/p>\n

The Inspiration<\/h3>\n

Our main living space has a lot of traditional Indian elements.<\/p>\n

Since the patio is basically an extension of the living room, I wanted the decor to flow effortlessly to the outdoor space.<\/p>\n

I decided to pick earthy and deep hues – brown, orange, and blue and add in a splash of yellow to make it cheerful.<\/p>\n

And of course, greenery; There had to be lots and lots of greenery!<\/p>\n

The Set Up<\/h3>\n

The Hampton Bay Laguna Point sectional<\/a>\u00a0 is the perfect piece for the space. Its plush cushions add instant coziness to the outdoor area. It makes the perfect corner to have a conversation or cuddle up on a cool night. I love the look of the deep brown wicker against the orange cushions.<\/p>\n

The sectional comes with the perfect sized storage coffee table with a glass top. It\u2019s a great place to store blankets or all those pillows when not using them!<\/p>\n

The entire space is anchored by the Hampton bay black brown rug<\/a>. Its texture and color flow well with the sectional and is comfortable under those bare wet feet when you take a break from the pool and come to grab a snack or drink.<\/p>\n

Add a bronze metal garden stool<\/a> and you have the perfect setup.<\/p>\n

The More Pillows the Better<\/h3>\n

I love pillows!<\/p>\n

They not only add colors and pattern, but make everything more comfortable.<\/p>\n

I loved the pattern and color of the Fern medallion outdoor throw pillows <\/a>. To balance it out, I also added the Tan Trellis outdoor throw pillow<\/a>\u00a0 and Charleston stripe outdoor pillow<\/a>, which also helped tie in the brown and blue and brought in a touch of white.<\/p>\n

The Decor<\/h3>\n

There are three main elements of decor in this space – greenery, lanterns and lighting.<\/p>\n

Although I wanted lots of greenery, I also wanted to keep them low maintenance.<\/p>\n

For the blank patio wall, I used a wood barrel trellis <\/a>, cut off the extra legs and stained it using Varathane dark walnut<\/a> before hanging it up.<\/p>\n

I found an amazing succulent arrangement in The Home Depot Garden Center. It was perfect for the wall and a conical succulent arrangement in the windows.<\/p>\n

Light Up Your Space<\/h3>\n

The ruby red metal and glass lantern<\/a> filled with Hampton Bay Copper Wire string lights<\/a>\u00a0 is at the foot of the stool. I added an Anthurium plant in a yellow acorn bell planter <\/a>\u00a0to add a splash of color.<\/p>\n

The Hampton Bay ceramic lanterns in denim <\/a>and chili <\/a>along with a small succulent arrangement on the coffee table add personality and color.<\/p>\n

On the other end of the sectional, I added my DIY navy blue lattice planter<\/a>\u00a0 filled with sword ferns.<\/p>\n

An old lantern got a coat of Rustoleum sun yellow <\/a>and a \u00a0galvanized round steel lantern<\/a> got a coat of matte spray paint in cinnamon<\/a> to tie in with colors across the space.<\/p>\n

Flameless LED resin candles<\/a> in various sizes in all of the lanterns complete the look.<\/p>\n

\"Outdoor<\/p>\n

Behind the sectional, I hung a couple strings of the iridescent string lights<\/a>. I love the colors and shapes. The patio roof got wrapped in outdoor LED string lights<\/a>.<\/p>\n

At dusk, when all the lights are on, it is almost magical.<\/p>\n

It is the perfect place to cozy up and read book on a summer evening or have conversations with friends.<\/p>\n

I have to admit, ever since I set up this entire space I have taken every opportunity to sit out here – to just hang out or to work.<\/p>\n

We are all so happy this corner got the love it deserved and we can\u2019t wait for summer!<\/p>\n
