For many of us, the dining room is our favorite in the house. It\u2019s where we have family time and where we entertain. Brandi Abdul-Malik of Don\u2019t Disturb This Groove<\/a> is able to show us how a few simple touch ups from The Home Depot can really help make this space your own.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Lately, I’ve been itching to make some changes to our dining room. It started with a search for new dining chairs, then quickly turned into me rethinking how we use our space.<\/p>\n

\"Dining<\/p>\n

Most nights we sit down as a family to eat dinner around the table and chat about our day. I would love to swap out our older chairs for something that better complements my style and brightens up the room. I am so grateful to partner with The Home Depot on my room refresh.<\/p>\n

\"Dining<\/p>\n

The inspiration for the room comes from my love of neutral colors layered in with black, white and natural wood tones. While I would still be using most of my existing furniture, I’m excited to share how a few updates can change the feel of the room.<\/p>\n

The Before<\/h3>\n

\"Dining<\/p>\n

Before, I loved the freedom to mix and match our chairs. The two different styles worked well together, creating a casual and relaxed aesthetic.<\/p>\n

\"Dining<\/p>\n

Currently, I\u2019m craving a more sophisticated look. With so many options, something attractive that can be easily cleaned made the most sense.\u00a0 Spills happen!<\/p>\n

Selecting New Chairs<\/h3>\n

The Home Depot has a wide selection of dining room chairs to fit any home. I browsed a wide variety of styles before ultimately choosing a set.<\/p>\n

The Safavieh Riley chairs<\/a> fit perfectly with my existing table. I love the cohesive feel!\u00a0 They were easy to put together and are well made.<\/p>\n

Though the chairs are available in assorted colors, including natural wood finish, raspberry and white, I chose black chairs. I love the contrast of the wood table with the black chairs.<\/p>\n

Updated Lighting<\/h3>\n

\"Dining<\/p>\n

In addition to chairs, we wanted to update the lighting for a new look. We swapped out the old light for a simple fixture that I love. We have lower ceilings, so the Duncan flush mount<\/a> works great for the size of our space.<\/p>\n

I love the timeless appeal of black window frames and decided to paint the sliding glass door to get the look.<\/p>\n

\"Dining<\/p>\n

Then I gathered my supplies –\u00a0KILZ brand primer<\/a>, black paint, a paintbrush<\/a> and painter\u2019s tape<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I chose Glidden black paint in a satin finish<\/a>. Living with three dogs that go in and out of the door repeatedly, I needed a sheen that is washable.<\/p>\n

\"Dining<\/p>\n

Painting the door frame made a huge difference. Black paint enhances the view of the door and draws your eyes up, also making the ceiling appear a bit taller.<\/p>\n

\"Dining<\/p>\n

The room opens up to the living room, so I also painted that window.<\/p>\n

\"Dining<\/p>\n

Fresh greenery livens the space. To help make the dining room feel brighter, I visited the garden center at The Home Depot to purchase plants. I was instantly drawn to the leaves of the Pilea peperomioides<\/a> plant.<\/p>\n

\"Dining<\/p>\n

This view makes me so happy! A simple refresh can bring new life to existing furniture.<\/p>\n
