To help both veterinarians and pet owners better understand this threat, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heartwormsociety.org\/\"  rel=\"nofollow\">American Heartworm Society<\/a> (AHS) periodically conducts nationwide surveys of veterinary practices to see where the heartworms are.
