Disconnect the drain pipe at the P-trap (the bend in the drain line) using Channellock pliers. Place rags or a large bowl\/bucket under the P-trap to catch any drips. Next, use a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.homedepot.com\/p\/%20Ryobi-18-Volt-ONE-Lithium-Ion-%20Compact-Drill-Driver-Kit-%20P1811\/205651590?cm_mmc=socialmedia%7Capronblog%7CD26B%7C000000%7CHomeDepotStaff%7C101005\">drill<\/a> to unscrew all fasteners that were securing it to the wall. \u00a0Slowly pull the old vanity out to avoid damaging the walls and flooring. Now is also a good opportunity to make any repairs to existing flooring or moldings.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Step 4: Prep New Items<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unbox all your new items and organize them for a stress-free assembly. Review the manufacturer&#8217;s instructions. Keep in mind, it&#8217;s much easier to install the new faucet before you move the vanity into place. Many cabinets are designed with an open back for easy access.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Step 5: Install Faucet<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-101336 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/homeimprovementblogs.com\/hg-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/0fa4e8019b8566faaccb8afba45830f9.jpg\" alt=\"How To Update Your Vanity and Faucet - Install Faucet\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Place the new fixture down through the countertop holes, tightening the mounting nuts underneath until the fixture is firmly in place. \u00a0Connect the lift rod. Then place it in the sink basin and tighten up the nut and washer underneath. You want the seal tight enough to squeeze a bit of putty out. Make sure your new vanity is level and flush against the wall. If it\u2019s not, just add a small wooden shim in an inconspicuous area to correct the issue. Then, secure the vanity using the supplied screws fastened into a wall stud.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Step 8: Reconnect Plumbing<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-101338 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/homeimprovementblogs.com\/hg-blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/159c04b0807c3b6c1ea1449197c61e81.jpg\" alt=\"How To Update Your Vanity and Faucet - Reconnect Plumbing\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To finish the faucet installation, reconnect the water supply lines. If they\u2019re worn or stiff, replace them to avoid future leaks. Next, reinstall the P-trap. Be sure to check underneath for any drips. If there are leaks, simply tighten all the joints, as needed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, caulk where the countertop and\/or backsplash meets the wall to create a
