Stephanie and Megan, of Do It Yourself Divas<\/a>, styled a three-ring wreath above their Christmas mantel for this year’s\u00a0Holiday Style Challenge<\/a>. From their DIY shutters to their perfectly decorated Christmas tree, their rustic, farmhouse d\u00e9cor captures the holiday spirit.<\/p>\n

Rustic Christmas Mantel<\/h2>\n

Just a few short months ago, The Home Depot reached out to us and presented us with a Holiday Style Challenge<\/a>. As serious DIYers,it has been a dream of ours to work with The Home Depot. Without any hesitation and brimming with excitement, we accepted the challenge.<\/p>\n

The Home Depot sent us a beautiful triple wreath door hanger and\u00a0$400 to spend at our local Home Depot. The challenge was to style a space using only The Home Depot products. Much like the reality TV show Project Runway, we were given this challenge and set free to, “Make it Work!”<\/p>\n

DIY Wreath Shutters<\/h3>\n

\"Rustic<\/p>\n

This is the wreath The Home depot delivered to our door: the 60 in. Winslow 3-Ring Artificial Wreath with 25 clear lights<\/a>.<\/p>\n

At first glance, the obvious way to style this beautiful triple hanging wreath is on the front door. For a long while, that is what we planned on doing, but the creative juices got to flowing and we decided to flip things around. We really wanted to showcase our challenge product, and make our entire space revolve around the lovely wreaths.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

What better place to truly showcase these wreaths, than by placing them above the mantle. We were truly inspired by these wreaths, and wanted them to stand out even more than they already did. To do this we created three rustic shutters. We headed to the lumber section of The Home Depot to find 6 ft. long wooden boards<\/a>. We certainly found the cheapest boards they had, which in the end gave way to the exact look we were after.<\/p>\n

After building the shutters, we stained them with the rich Minwax wood stain in the color Jacobean<\/a>.\u00a0We hung each wreath on it’s very own handmade shutter with a simple screw. The Home Depot had the perfect little battery operated white votive candles<\/a> that we placed in the middle of each wreath. It couldn’t have been more perfect.<\/p>\n

Mantle Decor<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

We bought one pre-lit Garland<\/a> and four little Nutcrackers <\/a>to hold it in place. Those four dudes sure did keep the garland right where we wanted it.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

To spruce up the garland we added some holly berries.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

What’s a Christmas mantle without stockings? We decided to sew up our own stockings with none other than painters drop clothes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Classic Christmas Tree<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The ribbon choices at The Home Depot this time of year are just lovely. Not only did we use our favorite Ribbon<\/a> as the finishing touch to our stockings, but also to trim the Christmas tree.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

We adorned the entire tree with lights<\/a> and decor, all found at The Home Depot. From the tippy top with this lovely tree topper<\/a>, to the very bottom with our brown paper packages<\/a> tied up with string<\/a>, The Home Depot is to thank for this beautifully decorated tree.<\/p>\n

To really make the tree shimmer and shine, we used the typical Christmas tree string lights<\/a>, as well as some larger bulbed lights <\/a>– ones that you might see on trees and bushes outside. Mixing the two kinds of lights was spectacular, to say the least.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

We wanted to tie in the red berries and ribbon in the wreathes we were given with the other decor we bought. We loved the\u00a0beautiful Large Red Ornaments<\/a> and Large Gold Ornaments <\/a>we found at our local store. They had every shape and size available so that each branch would be decorated to perfection.<\/p>\n

DIY Tree Skirt<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

We designed and created a rustic, farmhouse tree skirt made with burlap and lace<\/a>. We even have a Burlap and Lace Tree Skirt Video Tutorial<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Final Reveal<\/h3>\n
