Creating a Backyard Winter Wonderland

We have a pretty incredible back yard that we enjoy year round, located on a nature preserve with tons on wildlife. For the holidays this year, we wanted to do something amazing that both the children and the adults could enjoy together. I thought it would be a great idea to create a backyard winter wonderland as an extension of the family room living space.

We selected a few key pieces to bring our vision together, starting with this Noel sign available exclusively at The Home Depot!

I’ve always loved outdoor trees, but struggled with incorporating them into our outdoor decor. I found these stunningly beautiful white winterberry branch trees with LED lights , and I knew they’d be a perfect fit into the overall design. They are 7ft tall, and have 660 branches each. I loved them so much, I brought home two of them!

We also thought it would be nice to add a spot for the kids to keep warm and enjoy s’mores, so we added this round fire pit for functional warmth and ambience! We wasted no time at all putting it to good use by making s’mores.

I think my favorite part of the entire design is that as the night gets darker, the backyard becomes more and more animated! The Star Shower motion laser light show added the perfect amount of animation to the design, and the sky is the limit on how it can be used.

And finally, this year we added the WeMo wi-fi enabled smart plug to make managing our holiday light display simple and easy with voice activation. I can literally power all of the exterior lights up or down, with one voice activated command!
